My book, Daughter of China, described some true, horrific scenes of neglect and malnutrition in one of China’s state run orphanages.  While a few improvements have been made in select orphanages, the need for adopting parents has only increased in the last ten years.   If you are considering adopting a child from China, I would like to refer you to my friends from Life Outreach International ( www.lifetoday.org ) who are currently building an orphanage in China and can recommend some reputable adoption agencies.

A large number of healthy infants are available for adoption from China, and the Chinese adoption program has received extensive praise from the U.S. government.

Although the process does take 12 to 14 months, it is well worth the time and effort. LIFE does not provide direct assistance in the adoption process nor can LIFE recommend a specific adoption agency. We can, however, refer you to these agencies for more information:

Hope Flinchbaugh is an author, freelance writer, and homeschooling mom from Pennsylvania. She authored Daughter of China, a novel based on true stories of religious persecution in China and women who face the one child policy there. Daughter of China received a Catherine Marshall Christy Award of Excellence in 2003. Hope’s nonfiction book, Spiritually Parenting Your Preschooler, was released in August 2003. .She is a contributor to Soul Matters, a series released in bookstores and Sam's Clubs in 2005. Hope’s latest novel, Across the China Sky, will be released in the fall of 2006.
