  • Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering. Love, God. (Hebrews 13:3 )

    Hope in China...

In October 2002 my dad, 73-year-old Glenn Keenan, and I went on a fact gathering trip into mainland China.  We rejoiced at the opportunity to carry Bibles as "donkeys for Jesus" to persecuted Christians in China.

I was personally honored to interview a 49 year old house church leader who walked with a crutch and a severe limp from a previous injury from being beaten in prison for his faith.  I respectfully told this man, "I want you to know that you and your fellowship of believers here are my heroes.  You are the heroes to many of us in the West."

Although we were not able to visit a state run orphanage, I was overjoyed to meet orphans from an underground Christian orphanage.  I hope you enjoy the pictures and your heart is touched by the valiant courage and sacrifice of our Chinese brothers and sisters.

Rev. Glenn Keenan with Chinese boy...

Like many Chinese, this orphan boy was superstitious about cameras. At first, he thought if we took his picture we could capture his spirit. After I let this boy take a picture with my camera, he was convinced to let his picture be taken with my dad, Rev. Glenn Keenan.

    Backpacks and Bibles...

Being a "donkey for Jesus" was an incredible journey. Somehow I managed to carry all of my personal belongings for 6 days plus these Mandarin Bibles in my backpack into China. Our team carried hundreds of Bibles to the underground house church in mainland China.

    In Hong Kong...

While in Hong Kong, I had the honor of meeting and interviewing Dennis Balcombe, founder and director of Revival Chinese Minsitries International, an organization that directly helps imprisoned pastors and their families, supplies Bibles and teaching materials to underground churches, and sends teaching teams into the underground seminaries.

    Brother Wei...

Hope listens to her interpreter as she interviews Brother Wei, a top leader of the 25 million member house church organization, China Gospel Mission. Wei has been in prison several times for his faith.

    Seminary...

Hope and her father taught at this underground Bible seminary hidden in rural China. Most evangelists trained in China's seminaries are young women between the ages of 14 and 25.
